Accounting is Lifelong Learning

Maintaining Professional Standards
Life-long Learning
The function of the IIPA's CPD to ensure that all members of the Institute maintain and indeed develop their knowledge over their careers. Although this has been the policy of the Institute for decades, the signing into law of the European Communities (Statutory Audits) (Directive 2006/43/EC) Regulations 2010 has made continuing professional development manditory on all Auditors.
Online CPD
Harnessing the Latest Technology
The Institute has always been an agile and proactive organisation, and no where has this been more obvious than in CPD. We are now moving to a new high with the recent launch of true on-line CPD for the first time in Ireland. While we have been offering CPD that can be downloaded from the Internet for a number of years, we have recently moved to an online learning management system (LMS).
This forms part of the IIPA's "Institute of Finance Training" initiative, which aims to provide a single finance training solution for individuals and business. When fully operational, the initiative will offer a range of online learning from 1/2 day training courses on VAT to a post graduate diploma in Audit and Assurance. You can find out more about the Institute of Finance Training here.
Are you Doing CPD Elsewhere ?
IIPA members who are also member of other professional bodies, whether they are accounting bodies or not, will usually be offered a credit towards their CPD requirements where they attend a non-IIPA CPD event. In addition we will recognise non-CPD and non-accounting events where these can be shown to have some relevance to Professional Development. Examples might include:
- IT Training
- Management Training
- Legal Training
- Mediation Training
- Any other relevant Training
- Pursuing certain undergraduate and postgraduate studies
- Pursuing the qualification of another professional body
- Voluntary services on behalf of the IIPA
- Providing training or lecturing
This is not an exhaustive list and if you would like to have a particular activity considered for recognition feel free to contact Head Office to discuss the matter further.
