Role of the IIPA

The IIPA is a Professional Accounting Body that is responsible for the education, regulation and representation of its members. As a Recognised Accounting Body the Institute is perscribed as an organisation that represents accountants, and issues Audit Practice Certificates. Our prime objective is to maintain and develop standards in the accounting profession.

Looking to study accounting? The IIPA are at the forefront of accounting education. From September 2008 you will be able to study on-line using our state of the art eLearning portal. This is in addition to the existing distance learning and affiliated colleges which continue to offer our qualifications.

The IIPA promotes the highest professional standards to all of its members. We offer a range of technical services to our members. This includes pronouncements on professional practice, maintaining and enforcement of ethical standards, advice on particular issues, and a range of other matters.
Representing Members
The IIPA represents the interests of its members inside a range of organisations including the Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority, the Companies Registration Office, the Company Law Review Group, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, the Revenue Commissioners, the Department of Finance and many others.
Exemptions
Have you completed a relevant third-level qualification? If you have then this can greatly reduce the number of modules you must complete in order to qualify as an Incorporated Public Accountant.

The IIPA's offers the fastest route to becoming a finance professional. You can qualify as an Incorporated Public Accounting Technician (IPAT) in 18 months to 2 years, or as an Associate Incorporated Public Accountant (AIPA) in 4 years. - Widest Range of Study Options

- Automatic Membership
Professional Accountants who are members of Prescribed Accounting Bodies may automatically qualify for membership of our institute. It is also possible to qualify for an Audit Practice Certificate (subject to conditions). - Appropriate Regulation

- Professional Standards
Our membership is required to maintain a high level of professinal competency. This is monitored by a dedicated committee of the Board, and includes visits to practices to ensure that standards are being upheld. - Ethics
All members of our institute are required to follow the ethical standards of the International Federation of Accountants. These are the very best codes of conduct for Professional Accountants. - Complaints, Investigations and Disciplinary System
We have a professional standards maintance structure including a complaints, Investigations and Disciplinary System. These are run to maintain and enhance the trust of customers of Incorporated Public Accountants.
